Idiom American - English part 1

     Wah...baru eksis lagi neh. Kali ini lagi suka banget dengan idiom-idiom American English. Menurut Tia mereka unik dan seru untuk dipelajari. Berikut baru sebagian dulu ya besok akan ada part lainnya. Ikuti terus ya ^^

     
A bag of wind

Indonesia: Omong kosong

Example: “ I wonder why people say Hogarth is such an interesting man,” Lily yawned. :To me he’s a big of wind."

A bird of a different feather.

Indonesia: Selalu ingin tampil beda dari yang lain.

Example: “Kate refuses to wear the same fashion everyone else wears. She’s a bird of a different feather who designs and makes her own clothes.”

    

     A clean bill of health.

Indonesia: Surat keterangan sehat.

Example: The doctor gave Dane a clean bill of health and is sending him home today.

    
    A cock and bull story.

Indonesia: Cerita bohong

Means: Ridiculous story to tell.

 

    A country cousin

Indonesia: Orang dari desa (kampungan)

Example:I’m taking Morttimer, my country cousin to a show.

      
    A ham actor

Indonesia: Aktor amatir

Example:” Good heavens!” Miss whimple whined. “Must you be so clumsy? And why haven’t you memorized your lines? You’re nothing but a ham actor.”

      

     A holly terror

Indonesia: Biang Kerok.

     
     A lame duck

Indonesia: Orang yang tidak berdaya

Example: “Shirley is such a lame duck. She can’t do anything without being supervised.”

      

    A watched pot never boils.

Indonesia:jika anda memperhatikan pekerjaan dengan memperhatikannya atau menunggunya akan terasa lama.

Example: It means if you watch or wait for something to get done or to happen it seems to take forever. Knowing that, why don’t you fellows take a stroll and come back in an hour or two?"

A yes man .

Indonesia: orang yang selalu mengiyakan semua perkataan orang lain.

Example: “Being a yes man keeps me out pf trouble.” Howard said, “and it might even lead to a promotion.”
